Feeding Those in Need.

Davis Ranch Produce, home of the famous Sloughhouse corn is a working farm in Sloughhouse, California near Sacramento. More than 20 different kinds of fruits and vegetables including corn, watermelon, strawberries, squash and tomatoes are grown at Davis Ranch.

Since its founding in 1992, Davis Ranch Produce has worked with volunteer organizations during the six month harvest season to pick the surplus unsold produce. Co owner, Jim Davis and his wife Peggy created the non-profit Helping Hands Produce to organize volunteers and educational field trips to facilitate getting the donated fresh fruits and vegetables to those in need.

Most of the surplus fruit and vegetables that could go to the needy are tilled back into the soil.  However, with enough people, the excess produce does not rot on the vine.

With the aid of our local communities, Helping Hands Produce is working to get all unsold fruits and vegetables from Davis Ranch to those going hungry in our area and in other counties throughout California.
